Oct 2026 - Ascent from Altnafeadh. Almost six hours of total solitude today - not another soul to be seen. I enjoyed the fantastic and atmospheric ascent through Coire na Tulaich with the scramble at the end to reach the bealach - by now I was in the clag. I spent some time on the summit of Stob Dearg but it was never going to clear - at least it was dry. The mist lifted to about 700m to afford some views into Glen Etive as I enjoyed the fairly flat ridge to Stob na Doire. Back into the clag for this sizeable peak which isn't a Munro but has stunning vistas I recall - not today! A tricky descent followed - a slippery, steep, slabby and scrambly path down through Coire Altruim. It was a relief to finally reach the Lairig Gartain for the lovely stroll out. Well deserved pint in the Clachaig followed.
